e-SDR Electronic BPS Filing

IMPORTANT NOTE: You may only use this on-line filing system (e-SDR) if you received the notification letter titled e-SDR E-File Your Business Property Statement with your Business Property Statement 571-L packet

Your Account Number and Business Identification Number (BIN) are printed on the top portion of your Business Property Statement 571-L. (example below)

Can anyone electronically file the 571-L Form?

Only those who received a letter with their 2009 571-L Form informing them they are eligible to file using eSDR may do so in 2009.  Ventura County is working to increase the number of eligible filers for the future.   

Do I have to print a copy of my eSDR electronic filing?
You do not need to print a copy of the eSDR filing, nor send a copy back to the Assessor’s Office. However, you may want to print and keep a copy for your own records.
Do I have to send back the Paper 571-L Form I received?

Do not send back the Paper 571-L Form if you electronically filed the 571-L Form using eSDR and received a confirmation number confirming your filing.  Keep a copy of the confirmation number as proof of your filing.

Do I need special software to use eSDR?

Yes, you need Adobe Reader, which most computers have.  If you do not have Adobe Reader it can be downloaded free from Adobe.

I can't log on to my account on the eSDR site

To log on to your account on the eSDR site, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to http://www.calbpsfile.org
  2. Click on the pink e-SDR button (e-File on SDR)
  3. On the log in screen, you will see two fields: Account # and BIN
  4. In the Account # field, type in your account number as indicated on you BPS form with no spaces or dashes. 
    For example, if your account number is 123-0-456-789 011, you would type in 1230456789011.
  5. In the BIN field, type in your BIN number as indicated on your BPS form. The web page will automatically split the number up as you type, so you don't have to worry about spaces.
I submitted my eSDR filng and received a confirmation number. Can I change my filing?

Yes, you can change your filing up to 3 times on eSDR.

Will the costs that I reported last year appear on the eSDR statement?

Since 2009 is the 1st year Ventura County is offering eSDR electronic filing of the 571-L Form, last year’s 2008 costs will not appear. 

If you file using eSDR next year in 2010, then this year’s 2009 costs will appear next year.
